A new paper-crafted Mario adventure, Paper Mario: The Origami King, unfolds exclusively on the Nintendo Switch system. The kingdom finds itself ravaged by an origami menace, forcing Mario and his new partner, Olivia, to embark on a quest to repair the damaged landscape and free Princess Peach’s castle.
Princess Peach's castle is held captive by King Olly, the ruler of the Origami Kingdom. After an invitation to an origami festival, Mario and Luigi discover that Peach has been turned into origami by King Olly, who controls five giant streamers and plans to re-fold the world. On their journey, Mario meets Olivia, King Olly’s sister, and the two join forces to put a stop to Olly’s onslaught. Even Bowser becomes entangled in the plot, forced to ally with Mario and Olivia after his minions are turned into origami Folded Soldiers.
Combat in Paper Mario: The Origami King is highly strategic. Players must master the new ring-based battle system, requiring careful planning to line up scattered enemies and maximize damage. Beyond battle, Mario can utilize the arm-extending 1,000-Fold Arms ability in specific spots. This allows him to interact with the environment by pulling, peeling, hitting, and more, adding depth to exploration.
The game promises a journey filled with laughter, emotion, and thrills, all wrapped in a unique paper-craft aesthetic. It challenges players with puzzle-solving skills and quick wit, making it a must-play title for fans of the Mario franchise. The game is available on the Nintendo Switch system, though play experience may differ on the Nintendo Switch Lite.
